Comparison method

The comparison reads pre-workout labels and compares 5 actives, always per serving as defined by the maker.

The 5 actives

L-citrulline, beta-alanine, taurine, tyrosine and caffeine: the 5 actives ROOK chose for its own pre-workout. Other ingredients are not counted.

Citrulline malate

Citrulline malate mixes citrulline and malic acid. If the label states pure citrulline, we use it. Otherwise we convert at the stated ratio: at 2:1, two thirds of the weight is citrulline. If no ratio is given, we assume 2:1 and say so.

Caffeine capped at 200 mg

In France a food supplement cannot exceed 200 mg of caffeine per serving. Above that, milligrams don't count in the total. More caffeine mostly means a harder crash after training.

ND, not declared

When an active is listed without an amount (proprietary blend), it shows as ND. If citrulline or beta-alanine is ND, the total can't be calculated.

Price

Price recorded on the stated date from the stated seller, divided by servings per tub.
